Homemade Honey Cherry Syrup – Naturally Sweetened with Real Cherries
August 12, 2026
This Honey Cherry Limeade is a simple, refreshing summer drink made with real cherries, fresh lime, and Browning’s Honey. Instead of using grenadine or bottled cherry syrup, this recipe starts with a homemade honey cherry syrup that gives the drink a deeper fruit flavor and a more natural sweetness.
It’s easy enough for a quick afternoon drink, pretty enough for entertaining, and perfect for a summer Thirsty Thursday.

Servings: About 6–8 drinks
Course: Drinks
Difficulty: Easy
Recommended Honey: Browning’s Clover Honey
This drink is bright, bubbly, and full of real cherry flavor without relying on an overly sweet commercial syrup. The honey rounds out the tart lime and gives the cherry syrup a smooth sweetness that regular sugar just can’t match.
Fill a 16-ounce glass with ice. Pour in ¾ cup prepared Browning’s Honey Limeade. Add ¼ cup Homemade Honey Cherry Syrup. Stir well to combine. Taste and adjust as desired. Add a little more Honey Cherry Syrup for a sweeter, stronger cherry flavor or more Honey Limeade for a brighter, more tart drink. For a sparkling version, top with a splash of chilled sparkling water or lemon-lime soda. Garnish with a fresh lime wheel and cherry, if desired, and serve immediately.
Make the components ahead. Prepare the [Homemade Honey Cherry Syrup] and [Homemade Honey Limeade] ahead of time and keep them chilled. When you’re ready for a Cherry Limeade, it takes less than a minute to put together.
Start with a 3:1 ratio. Three parts Honey Limeade to one part Honey Cherry Syrup gives you a great balance of tart lime and sweet cherry. From there, adjust it to your taste.
Keep everything cold. Starting with chilled limeade and cherry syrup keeps your drink refreshing and prevents the ice from melting too quickly.
Want some fizz? Top the finished drink with sparkling water for a lighter option or lemon-lime soda for a sweeter, more soda-like Cherry Limeade.
Make it pretty. A lime wheel and fresh cherry make a simple garnish, while a few cherries and lime slices in a pitcher make a beautiful presentation for parties.
Batch it for a crowd. Keep the same 3:1 ratio when scaling up. For example, combine 6 cups Honey Limeade with 2 cups Honey Cherry Syrup for an easy 8-cup party batch. Add ice to individual glasses rather than the pitcher so the limeade doesn’t become diluted.
Honey Cherry Sparkler
Use plain sparkling water instead of lemon-lime soda for a lighter, less-sweet drink.
Cherry Lemonade
Replace the lime juice with fresh lemon juice and top with prepared lemonade.
Cherry Cream Soda
Add a splash of half-and-half or heavy cream after adding the soda for a creamy cherry treat.
Cherry Italian Soda
Combine the Honey Cherry Syrup with club soda and finish with a splash of cream.
Extra-Tart Cherry Limeade
Increase the fresh lime juice to 2 tablespoons per drink.
Store the Honey Cherry Syrup in a sealed container in the refrigerator. For best quality, use within about one week.
The finished limeade is best made immediately before serving so the soda stays bubbly.
Honey adds more than sweetness. Its floral flavor complements both cherries and lime while giving the syrup a smooth, rounded finish.
Using Browning’s Honey also means this homemade cherry syrup can be made without traditional granulated sugar.
