Why You’ll Love It
- Naturally sweetened with honey
- Rich in electrolytes from coconut water
- Bright tropical flavor
- Great after working outdoors
- No refined sugar
Ingredients
- 2 cups coconut water
- 1 cup guava nectar
- 1 peeled lime
- 2 tbsp Browning’s Honey
- ¼ tsp sea salt
- Ice
Instructions
- Add the peeled lime and coconut water to a blender.
- Blend until smooth.
- Add guava nectar, honey, and sea salt.
- Blend for 30–45 seconds.
- Strain if desired.
- Pour over ice and garnish with fresh lime.
Pro Tips
- Use guava nectar for the strongest flavor. Guava juice is usually thinner and less sweet, so you may need to add a little more honey.
- Dissolve the honey completely. Blend the honey with the coconut water before adding ice so it mixes evenly throughout the drink.
- Taste before adding more salt. Coconut water can already contain sodium, so begin with a small pinch and adjust as needed.
- Peel the lime carefully. Remove most of the white pith to prevent the refresher from tasting bitter.
- Serve it very cold. Chill the guava nectar and coconut water ahead of time so the ice does not dilute the drink too quickly.
- Strain for a smoother finish. Leaving it unstrained gives the drink more texture and fresh lime flavor.
Variations
- Sparkling Guava Lime Refresher
- Replace half of the coconut water with chilled sparkling water. Stir it in after blending to preserve the bubbles.
- Frozen Island Hive Refresher
- Blend the finished drink with 2 to 3 cups of ice until thick and slushy.
- Guava Pineapple Refresher
- Replace half of the guava nectar with pineapple juice for a sweeter tropical flavor.
- Strawberry Guava Lime
- Blend in 1 cup of fresh or frozen strawberries for additional color and fruitiness.
- Coconut Cream Version
- Add ¼ cup coconut milk for a creamier, richer tropical drink.
- Spicy Guava Lime Refresher
- Add a small slice of fresh jalapeño before blending, then strain before serving.
Storage
Store the prepared refresher in a covered pitcher or airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Stir or shake well before serving because the fruit and lime may settle.
For the freshest flavor, store the drink without ice and add ice just before serving. This prevents it from becoming watered down.
The refresher can also be frozen in ice cube trays. Add the frozen cubes to future drinks or blend them into a quick tropical slush.
Why Use Honey?
Honey adds a smooth, rounded sweetness that balances the tart lime and tropical guava without relying entirely on refined sugar. It also blends beautifully with the light citrus notes in the drink.
Browning’s Orange Blossom Honey is especially delicious in this recipe because its delicate floral and citrus flavor complements the guava and fresh lime. Start with a smaller amount, taste, and add more depending on the sweetness of your guava nectar.
